TPS Ipswich looks the part with relocation to new site

TPS Ipswich has relocated to a new 13,000 sq ft site, with the move to the larger premises enabling the Centre to ramp up operations and meet increased customer demand for parts.

The new premises, located at Sproughton, near Ipswich, is now among the biggest Centres in the TPS network with a sales office, warehouse, new board room and meeting rooms housed in the 12m high main building.

TPS Insider has been given a behind the scenes tour of the new building, with TPS Ipswich Centre Manager, Malcolm Park, our guide for the day.

Malcolm begins the tour in the telesales office, where a dedicated team of seven takes up to 350 calls a day. They include Simon, who has been with TPS Ipswich right from the first day they opened, an almost 20-year service record that is as impressive as the new building itself.

Discussing the move to the new premises, Malcolm said: “We had very much outgrown the previous building, so moving here has allowed us to increase our capacity and ramp up operations to our customers.

“There has been a phenomenal amount of work gone into getting the new place up and running and everyone is really impressed by what we have here.”

As we move into the warehouse, the size and scale of the TPS Ipswich operation becomes clear, with a huge selection of parts, consumables - including Quantum Oil, Anti-Freeze, Car Care, Greases - and much more.

Malcolm said: “We have everything, from the smallest washer to whole body panels. TPS Ipswich is one of the largest battery stockists in the TPS network and we have 650 batteries available at any time.

“TPS Ipswich also has its own purpose-built room for battery testing and charging, with all batteries tested on site at least once a month. It’s why the AA in the area use us for batteries, as they know they will hold the required charge straight off the shelf.”

As well as batteries, TPS Ipswich has a comprehensive oil offering. While full-size bulk barrels are available for the most popular engine oils, TPS Ipswich also stocks Quantum Oils in either five or 20 litre in its Quantum Cubes.

Malcolm adds: “Garages will buy these and keep a number on the shelf for when they are needed, it’s what suits their business. What’s great about the Quantum Cubes is they are 100% recyclable, and when they are empty you can just collapse them for disposal, saving space.”

With the new premises comes increased capacity, along with the capability to reach new prospective customers from across the region and further expand the customer network.

TPS Ipswich carries out six regular delivery runs each day to customers in Bury St Edmunds, Clapton-On-Sea, Colchester, Diss, Felixstowe, Halstead, Ipswich Saxmundham, Sudbury and Woodbridge.

Those deliveries are carried out by a 15 strong vehicle fleet that includes three EVs - two Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargos and a Cupra Born.

During our visit, both the ID. Buzz Cargos and the Cupra Born are being loaded up, ready to go out on their next round of deliveries to service customer demand across the expanded local and regional territories.

Malcolm said: “With the launch of Brands at TPS this year, we have the capacity to now stock more parts than ever before and deliver them to our customers across the region.

“Volkswagen Group Approved Genuine Parts remains our primary parts offering and we’re Genuine all the way through. We only supply Genuine Parts, along with trusted name parts via ‘Brands at TPS’. This is what makes us unique.”

The tour ends with a look at the building’s solar panels, installed to help achieve the A energy efficiency rating for the building and assist in powering the TPS Ipswich operations.

Our tour of TPS Ipswich provides a fascinating insight into the day to day running of one of TPS’s biggest Centres.

With its increased capacity and capability, TPS Ipswich not only looks the part but is very much playing its part in the TPS network’s continuing success.
